OT Network Technology Transition

Background & summary

The client required a transition from their legacy OT WirelessNetwork to a modern wireless architecture to enable deployment of Caterpillar Autonomous Haulage. The existing system was not validated for CAT Command and therefore needed to be completely replaced prior to autonomy rollout.

To ensure continuity, both the legacy wireless network and GPS correction systems had to remain fully operational while the new OT Wireless system and infrastructure were deployed and brought online. The two systems operated in parallel throughout the transition, with the legacy network scheduled for decommissioning only after successful migration.

To maintain seamless network performance throughout the transition while enabling support teams to proactively detect and resolve any issues in real time, and reduce risk of disruption during critical deployment phases.

Our Solution

IMS Wireless Manager (IMS-WM) was deployed ahead of the transition to baseline the existing network and deliver full visibility throughout the rollout of the new architecture. With continuous monitoring of both legacy and new environments, IMS-WM provided the Technology team with a unified view — enabling real-time issue resolution, stakeholder alignment, and a seamless cutover to the new system.
